Court issues Criminal summons to Bobi Wine
Buganda road court has issued Criminal Summons for Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine, to appear before it on August 12 and start trial on charges of Disobedience of Statutory Duty.
Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu issued the summons after Bobi Wine’s Lawyer Abdullah Kiwanuka informed court that his client was travelling to Kampala from upcountry.
Meanwhile State Prosecutor Simon Amerit also informed to court that investigations were complete and they are ready to give the defence team with all the evidence they intend to use in the case.
Bobi Wine is jointly charged with his brother Nyanzi Fred Ssentamu, his Body guard Ssebuwufu Edward aka Eddie Mutwe and two others.
They are alleged to have disobeyed sections 5 and 10 of the Order Management Act of 2013, by holding a public meeting without giving notice to any authorised officer, and refusing to cooperate with police, to ensure that all participants are not armed and peaceful.
They committed the offence on July 11 2018 at City Square along Kampala road in protest of social media and Mobile Money Tax.
They have since denied the allegation and will return to court of August 12 when the trial Magistrate Esther Nahirya will be well enough to try the accused persons.
