Corruption hinders development in Mitooma district, Kashenshero Town Council vice C/M petitions Lt Col Edith Nakalema Anti-Corruption Unit.
Mitooma district western Uganda, The vice chairman for Kashenshero town council Mr. Veleriano Mpamizo has petitioned the Anti-corruption Unit of state house headed by Lt. Col. Edith Nakalema,to come and investigate the massive corruption in Kashenshero town council.
Mpamizo reports that Shs7.9 million that was meant to pay road gangs was allegedly swindled by town clerk Kashenshero town council Mr Arthur Nzeyimana and his corrupt treasurer Mr David Byaruhanga Kajangu.
Also, 33 million shillings that was meant to maintain Kahinda, Rukaranga and Baryamujura roads was not accounted for by the town clerk. They are waiting for the response from anti-corruption unit.
Mitooma district has been a ‘corruption base’ , as on 26th Sept.2019 the principal personnel in charge of district commission Amon Byamugisha was arrested by Mitooma police as he started his work in his office on charges of corruption and he later pleaded guilty.
Amon Byamugisha , Saverino Beyendeza the District Community Development Officer (DCDO), Sarah Kiconco Community Development Officer Katenga Sub County,were also arrested by the Inspector General of Government (IGG)’s office.
More so, Honest Bamanyisa,principal human resource officer and David Betega the former acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Mitooma district, are being investigated on charges related to corruption.
