Col. Ndahura released on bail by the Army Court, ordered not to Move beyond Kampala and Wakiso
Jailed former Director of Crime Intelligence in Uganda Police Force Col. Nduhura Atwooki has been granted bail by the General Court Martial in Makindye.
The seven member Court Chaired by Lt. Gen. Andrew Gutti allowed Col. Ndahura’s application on grounds that he is a long serving Updf Soildier, has never been convicted of any offence, he is sickly(diabetes and high blood pressure) and of advanced age(58yrs).
He was then ordered not to go beyond Kampala and Wakiso Districts, he should report Court once a month until the case against him is concluded, he has to sign a non cash bond of 10mshs, while his surities have to sign a non cash bond of 5mshs and ensure that he reports to Court as and when he is required.
Col. Nduhura is jointly charged with the former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura , former Flying Squad commandant Herbert Muhangi, former Special Investigations Unit commandant Nixon Agasirwe and others, for of unlawful issuance guns to unauthorised persons, kidnap and illegal repatriations of Rwandans.
He applied for bail through his Lawyer Evans Ochieng, and Prosecution’s Major Rapheal Mugisha did not object to his temporary release.
Col .Nduhura was arrested on 11th/June/2018 from Masindi and since then he has been in detention at Makindye Military Barracks without trial.
He surities are workmates in the force, and a Rtd capt Donozio Kahonda who undertook to ensure his return to Court as and when he is required.
He has since denied the charges.
