Bukimbiri residents in Kisoro push for constituency

Bukimbiri residents in Kisoro district have petitioned President Museveni to gazette Bukimbiri constituency as he promised them in 2015.

In their letter, the locals reminded the president that while on his campaign trail in Kisoro, he granted them a county status noting that in 2019, while meeting a delegation from Kisoro, president Museveni emphasized on the pledge, yet up to now it remains unfulfilled.

Meanwhile, Bukimbiri residents blame the Bufumbira North MP John Nizeyimana Kamara, for trying to block the creation of the constituency.

The residents claim Kamara in the boundary creation process at parliament, he proposed the removal of Nyabwisheya sub county from the rest of the county.

The residents last week gathered signatures to move a motion to the Ministry of Local Government to ignore resolutions made by legislatures.
