Bududa: 80 schools face closure over lack of requirements
At least 83 private-owned schools in Budaka District are facing closure over failure to meet minimum operation standards set by the Ministry of Education.
The Budaka District education officer, Paul Higenyi, said that the affected schools include those unregistered and whose proprietors have failed to meet the guidelines for several years.
This comes after the district education department carried out an assessment of all private schools last year and found out that several of them had failed to follow the set guidelines as required.
On December 19, the district chief administrative officer, Abdu Batambuze, wrote to the affected schools warning them to ensure they act on the district recommendations or face closure.
