Brazil mine disaster death toll rises to 58.
The number of people killed by the collapse of a dam at a Brazilian mining complex rose to 58, with those still missing rising to 305, civil defence officials said Sunday.
After search operations, “the number has increased to 305 people missing and 58 dead,” Minas Gerais state civil defence spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Flavio Godinho told reporters.
He said rescuers had found a bus filled with human bodies.
Fears of a second dam breach at a Brazilian mining complex receded Sunday, enabling a search to resume for those still missing.
Loudspeakers rang out at 5:30 am among homes surrounding the Corrego do Feijao mining complex in southeastern Brazil, warning of dangerously high water levels, according to mine owner Vale.
