Bishop George Bagamuhunda asks farmers to use better farming methods.
The Bishop of the Diocesan of Kigezi George Bagamuhunda warned farmers against bush burning and unnecessary cutting of trees.
Bishop Bagamuhunda made the call while delivering his Christmas message at his office at Rugarama hill in Municipality. Bishop Bagamuhunda advised that the people should embrace preservation of the environment and condemn the practice of bush burning, and unnecessary cutting of trees saying that acts can cause landslides and
He also appealed to farmers to practice better farming methods such as mulching, crop rotation and terracing saying that this will help to protect the soil from floods and landslides.
Bagamuhunda also said there is need for clergy and political leaders to sensitize the masses about the need to protect the environment for current and future generation.
