Uganda’s TB Ambassador,Moses Ssali Bebe Cool and Amber Heart Foundation team yesterday opened three screening desks at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital, Mbarara City Council Health Center IV and Bwizibwera Health Center IV western Uganda in a campaign against Tuberculosis.
This makes it a total of 16 screening desks altogether in Kampala, Jinja and now Mbarara.
Bebe Cool says the objective of this one-year TB REACH project is ‘Finding missing people with TB and link them to medication’.
Tuberculosis remains a major public health problem in Uganda with an annual incidence of 330 cases of all forms and 136 new smear positive cases per 100,000 people per year.
Last year, 1.3 million people around the world died from tuberculosis (TB) with Uganda among the 22 most affected countries.
