Bamugemereire speaks out on Mutungo Land ‘Shooting’ Incident
Land Probe Commission Chairperson Justice Catherine Bamugemereire has spoken out on what happened in Mutungo yesterday during a field visit to Mutungo Land dispute, saying her team would not have gone there if they knew they had not been cleared by the relevant authorities. She describes the incident as unfortunate and regrettable.
Yesterday the Land Probe Commission Team met resistance at Mutungo hill, where a UPDF Soldier Corporal Julius Katuriba denied them access and attempted to shoot at them, but officers from Counter Terrorism and Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Moses Kafeero overpowered and disarmed him amidst a verbal exchange that took about 30 minutes.
The Land under dispute is between Buganda Prince David Kintu Wasajja, Ambassodor Maurice Kagimu the Son to former Chief Justice Ben Kiwanuka and 87year old Dr.Muhammad Buwule Kasasa.
