At least 6 people dead as floods and mudslides ravage western Uganda
Residents of different parts of western Uganda have cried out to government and well-wishers for help after heavy rainfall caused mudslides and floods leaving at least 6 people dead.
Areas affected by Saturday heavy rainfall that started at 3 am and lasted for the full day include Kabuyanda,Birere,and different parts of Isingiro district,Rubagano in Mwizi Rwampara,parts of Ntungamo and Kabale because part of Rwahi- Rwashamaire Road was washed away,Kamwenge, and elsewhere.
In Isingiro,the LC V C/M Jeremiah Kamurari expressed concern over neglect by Members of Parliament and called upon Office of the Prime Minister, Members of Parliament and other successful people from Isingiro to help in this trying time.
In Rubagano Mwizi,a daughter to a one Byabasigi died and several people are still missing (by press time).
Two children were on Saturday swept by mudslides in Karengyere village in Rubanda district killing them instantly.
Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) announces temporary diversion of road users to Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo after experiencing a pavement failure at Kaharo along Ntungamo-Kabale road,about 18km to Kabale town.
