Artistes That Were Affected During COVID-19 To Be Compensated!
The Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi has revealed that the government has allocated a Shs 6.6 billion fund to compensate artistes that were affected during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Museveni on July 20 directed the Ministry of Gender Labour and Social Development to highlight those that were affected by the lockdown and see how they can be helped,” Nakiwala said, adding that government is in the final stages of securing and starting the distribution of Shs 6.6 billion to artistes and promoters who had organised concerts and launches, but were affected by the lockdown.
Nakiwala also noted that very soon, they will reach out to those that were affected to see how best they can be helped.
“We are registering names, mostly of those who had organised concerts and they were cancelled. They need to be compensated. Like Eddy Kenzo, I saw his invoices for his cancelled event, we are working on it,” she said.
