An estimated 240,000 children expected to be immunized against measles rubella in Rwampara district and Mbarara.
An estimated 240,000 children from nine months old to fifteen years old are expected to be immunized against measles rubella in the current Rwampara district and Mbarara districts from October 16 to 20 this year.
Addressing health workers at one day coordination meeting attended by health workers and other district stakeholders in health at district council hall Kamukuzi Mbarara, the RDC Mbarara Lt Col James Mwesigye warned health workers to stop begging parents and guardians during the immunization exercise.
He advised health workers to give orders saying any health in charge who fails to achieve one hundred percent should prepare to be transferred to worst place or next prepare for exiting public service.
Lt Col Mwesigye assured the health workers that achieving one hundred percent coverage in the immunization exercise is possible and simple as long as he is still controlling command of monitoring and implementation of government programs in the area.
He appealed to all parents and guardians to get involved in the exercise for better health of all children since the drug was approved by the world health organization and ministry of health describing it to be safe, effective and free.
The Inspector of Schools Mbarara Municipal Council Mr Deus Ntare said among the targeted children about eighty percent are school children while the remaining twenty percent are children out of schools but all will be immunized.
