Africell Uganda Accounts Manager jailed seven years.
The Court of Appeal has sentenced Kenneth Kaawe the Africell Uganda Accountant Manager of Western and Southwestern Uganda, to seven years, 11mths and 5days imprisonment at Luzira.
Kaawe was found guilty of embezzlement of 50,000US Dollars which he had received on behalf of his former employer Bank of Africa as Head of Central Cash on 13th/May/2009.
Kaawe whose bail has been cancelled, had appealed an 8year jail sentence handed to him on 17th/May/2011 by then Anticorruption court Judge Catherine Bamugemereire.
Three Justices of the Court of Appeal, Geoffrey Kiryabwire, Stephen Musota and Percy Tuhaise concurred with Justice Bamugemereire that Kaawe was rightly convicted, only reduced his sentence but ordered him to refund the stolen money to Bank of Africa.
