88 people quarantined in Kabale over COVID_19 fear
A total of 88 travelers have been Quarantined at Kirigime Guest house in Kabale Municipality after they attempted to enter Uganda through Katuna border with Rwanda .
The move comes barely after Ugandan authorities slapped a ban on all travelers entering or leaving Uganda in a bid to prevent Covid 19 spread.
4 of these are from Kenya, 1 from Eritrea and 83 are Ugandans who have been in Rwanda.
Security officials from Uganda are currently meeting them to see what to exactly do since Rwanda & Uganda have both closed their borders.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson said that it is hard for them to allow these travelers in the country since they need to subject them to mandatory 14 days quarantine to verify their health
Darius Nandinda, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner said that they will have to confine these people to study their health
Ivan Mulumba, one of the travelers said that the presidential directive to lock them up for 14 days is unfair since they did not have enough money.
“This disease came at a time we had not prepared our finances. We may not experience an easy time if isolated,” he said.
Steven Niwagaba another traveler noted that his family will suffer since he was rushing to sort out a few issues at home.
