Abidjan City to host last window of FIBA Africa qualifiers
Côte d’Ivoire’s Capital City Abidjan has been selected to host the upcoming sixth and final window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers.
African qualifications for the FIBA 2019 Basketball World Cup, the last two places available for African countries for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 in China will be determined next month in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The games will be played from 22nd to 24th February 2019 in Côte d ‘ Ivoire’s largest City Abidjan.
The second and final stage includes teams like Mali, Rwanda, the Central African Republic, Senegal and Nigeria.
After beating Egypt last month, Cameroon (7-5) finished in third place of Group E with 19 points, which might be good enough to ensure them the best third-placed team in the African Qualifiers, and a lifetime opportunity of reaching their first World Cup.
However, with Nigeria already qualified, and Senegal sitting on a strong position of securing a place at China 2019, Cote d’Ivoire and/or CAF could spoil Cameroon’s World Cup aspirations.
Cote d’Ivoire would secure a spot in the World Cup as the second-placed team in Group F if they win their last three games and Senegal lose their last three games.
The FIBA World Cup will tipoff on Saturday, 31 August and will end on Sunday, 15 September 2019.
The 32 team tournament will be hosted by China.
