‘We are focused on waking Up Ugandans’ -Museveni
President Museveni is currently addressing the NRM Parliamentary caucus, at the National Leadership Institute, Kyankwanzi.
The NRM Mps began their retreat of 8 days at the Institute yesterday, and are expected to among other issues discuss the industrialisation of the economy, road to 2021 elections, while it is also rumoured that the issue of Sole candidacy of president Museveni could be discussed.
The president says his government is insisting on waking up all Ugandans so that they become part of the money economy. He reveals that the number of people below the poverty line has reduced from 56% in 1990s 21.4% toay.
Meanwhile, a motion is in the offing at the caucus retreat to amend the Constitution to change the procedures through which the president is elected.
The motion which is believed to be fronted by Isaac Musumba, the Minister of state for Lands,Housing and Urban Development if adopted and passed by parliament, will see the president voted by parliament, otherthan by all Ugandans.
