UNEB releases 2018 senior four results, indicating a general improvement
Education and Sports Minister Janet Museveni has released the 2018 Uganda Certificate of Examinations (UCE) results today at Statistics House in Kampala.
This is the third time Janet Museveni is releasing UCE results ever since she was appointed the political head of the ministry in 2016.
A total of 336,740 candidates registered for the examination from 3,658 centres out of whom 169,984 are boys and 166,756 are girls.
288,387 candidates passed the examinations, compared to 287,350 the previous year. A total of 335,435 candidates sat for the exams in 2018, a 3.3% increase from 326,212 the previous year. However, only 330,721 appeared for the examinations.
While releasing the results, Dan Odongo Executive Secretary UNEB noted that there was an overall improvement in English language, Islamic religious Education and Physics.
Mathematics and Biology have also shown improvement at the distinction level, although the overall pass of science subjects remain low.
Meanwhile, UNEB has withheld exams for 47 schools over alleged examination malpractice.
Some of the schools in this region whose results have been withheld include; Hall Mark school Mbarara, Kijongo high school in Ibanda, St. Mary’s Rushoroza in Kabale, St.Raphael SS IN Rukungiri among others.
