Ugandans Urged On Security As the Army Celebrates Tarehe Sita Tomorrow
As Uganda peoples defence forces prepares to celebrate Tarehe Sita tomorrow, Ugandans have been asked to cooperate with security organs to ensure peace sustainability in the Country.The cal has been made by the Makenke Second Division Barracks Spokesperson,Maj.Peter Mugisa in an exclusive interview with Croozefm in Mbarara today. Tarehe Sita is commemorated in rememberance of the first attack and launch of the 1981 NRA Guerilla war.
Major Mugisha says that people need to be extra careful of the people they receive and employ, adding that these can be criminals who want to disrupt the peace of the people of Uganda and the East African region.His comments come at a time Uganda continues to grupple with increasing numbers of people who use polous border points to access Uganda.
The National Tarehe Sita Celebrations will be held in Butaleja district tomorrow, under the theme: ‘’Reaffirming our contribution towards regional integration in strategic security development and integrity’’.In Mbarara, there will be band match from Makenke Barracks, through Mbarara town to Kakyeka, and then back to Makenke.
Meanwhile, Col. Byekwaso, one of the army representatives in parliament says that UPDF has reasons for celebrating its birth for the strides it has recorded in protecting Ugandans and the country’s borders.She further salutes the men in uniform for being pan Africanists given their gesture at offering security services to different African states with security challenges.
However, Col. Byekwaso notes some challenges that the women officers in the army face where some are deployed in very risky areas given their nature.She adds that a directorate for women affairs was instituted in the force to look into such challenges hence the institution can come up with solutions to see women also get flexible when serving.
