Uganda Communications Commission to Meet Broadcasters
Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) will next week meet all broadcasters to address the controversy surrounding the suspension of live broadcasts. UCC recently ordered a halt on live broadcasts which were in breach of minimum broadcasting standards, saying they were fueling political violence in the country.
Television and radio stations have been airing live videos of MPs fighting in Parliament, scenes that have shaken the nation. UCC maintains live broadcast of violent scenes is below the minimum standards of broadcasters set out by the law.
