Uganda at 56: President Museveni assures the country on security as FDC holds independence lecture
President Museveni has used the 56th Independence celebrations to assure the Country that the government is committed to improving security in the country.
A number of high profile persons including former police spokesperson, Felix Kaweesi, former Buyende district Police Commander, Muhammad Kirumira among others have been gunned down in city murders. The murders according to the president, are being carried out by Allied Democratic forces rebels who have penetrated into the city.
Speaking at Kasasa grounds in Kyotera district, the president said the CCTV cameras which he launched today, will help Prevent crime in the city.
Meanwhile, At the FDC party headquarters, party members held a lecture about Independence Day expressing concern over expenses spent on national celebrations as many Ugandans languish in extreme poverty.
This was according to Ssemujju Ibrahim Nganda, the party publicity secretary.
