Two Isolated at Nakaseke Hospital Over Crimean Congo Fever Outbreak
- At least two people have been isolated at Nakaseke Hospital over the outbreak of the Crimean-Congo haemorrhagic fever .One of the patients has been confirmed positive to the virus while the second is treated as a probable patient. A male patient who is a resident of Nakigulube village in Nakaseke Sub County has been isolated after his blood samples tested positive at Uganda Virus Research Institute.
The second patient was admitted at Nakaseke Hospital on August 20 with oral sores, diarrhea and bleeding from the mouth.
- In his letter dated August 21, 2017 addressed to District Health Officers in 17 districts, Dr Anthony Mbonye, the acting Director General of Health Services confirmed the outbreak of the fever.
- Mbonye said two cases had tested positive one from Nakaseke hospital and another from Kiboga Hospital.
