Tax villagers who relocate to towns -CAO
The government should tax villagers who migrate to town/urban areas in search of ‘good life’, a district technocrat has suggested.
The Chief Administrative Officer of Tororo District, Mr Vitalis Oswan, said introducing heavy taxes will control the growth of slums that are occupied by rural-urban migrants.
He was speaking to delegates, most of whom are mayors and senior local government officials attending the Commonwealth Local Government Forum. He said rural-urban migration lies in enforcing punitive tax measures.
