School drop out rate worries educationists in Bunyangabu
Authorities from Primary Schools in Katebwa Sub County, Bunyangabu
district are struggling to control high cases of school dropout, teenage
pregnancies and early marriages.
Head teachers are partly accusing parents of promoting child marriage by conniving with defilement suspects to conceal information.
They allege that the practice is considered to be normal in the mountainous sub counties of Katebwa, Kabonero and Kyamukube town council.
Malisaba Joshua, the head teacher Kinyampanika primary school says every
term at least 2-5 girls dropout of school to get married, adding that out
of 28 pupils who sat for PLE last year, four joined secondary education
while others dropped out mysteriously.
He says police has not been cooperative in combating defilement cases
