Rwandese Arrested In City Robberies
Idi Ibin Ssenkumbi, the police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan, has revealed that last week on Saturday, the police’s flying squad unit nabbed Jane Huneza, 35, a Rwandese over robbery.
Huneza has been eluding police since January 13, 2013, when she stole Shs 2.8m from a lady’s shop on Kalungi plaza in Kampala.
According to Ssenkumbi, Huneza entered the lady’s shop as a client, and asked for a seat pretending to be tired.
Minutes after, she started checking and inquiring prices for the clothes and hand bags, but suddenly left the shop without buying any.
The attendant wondered and checked her stock, it was all there, but when she checked in her handbag which Huneza was seated next to, she realised that her money and phone were missing.
She alarmed, described the lady to those who had gathered but was told that the woman is known for conning in the city.
Huneza was questioned at Central Police Station Kampala and she admitted the case, revealing that she has been doing this for nearly two years and that on a good day, she makes Shs 5m plus.
“This is not the first case to be reported, where Huneza is involved. Last year, we arrested her and she told us that she will never commit such an offence again; she revealed to us that she operates along William street and Atlanta building in the city centre,” Ssenkumbi said.
He adds that, Huneza will be charged for obtaining money by false pretence and impersonation, along other charges as investigations will reveal.
