Rukungiri OC prisons Wants Prisons De-congested
The OC prisons Rukungiri, Julius Orije has challenged the judiciary to speed up the process of hearing cases as a way to de-congest prisons.
Orije noted that Rukungiri prisons have 460 inmates with only 100 convicts with the other 360 still awaiting judgment.
He noted prisons face quiet a number of challenges due to the high population citing inadequate food supply among others.
In a related development, the Bishop of North Kigezi diocese Rt. Rev. Patrick Tugumetusingwire has urged prisoners to repent their sins and turn to God and also restore their trust and confidence in their communities.
The Bishop made the call yesterday during a confirmation service for 22 prisoners into the Anglican faith that was held at Rukungiri prisons.
He noted that prisoners are also like any other person who sin but repent and asked them not to lose hope of repenting.
