Police to Chase Crime Preventers from Stations
Police is considering chasing crime preventers from its out posts and police stations for acting contrary to what they are supposed to be doing. Police established the crime preventer’s forum in 2013 as part of its community policing program.
Crime preventers are expected to detect and report crime to police for action. However, Asan Kasingye, the Political Commissar in the Police Force, says some of the crime preventers are involved in bad deals and extortion.
He says the Crime Preventers leave their homes and park their motorcycles at the nearest Police Station before they storm the neighboring villages to engage in crime, a thing he says can’t be tolerated.
