Police orders widows of the late Eriya Kategaya to vacate land in Lyantonde
Police has ordered the widows of the late Eriya Kategaya to vacate the land in Lyantonde District.The two widows, Joan Besimire and Diana Kirungi have been conflicting over the ownership of the farm in Kirebe B village in Nsiika, Lyantonde district.
The conflict worsened on Thursday after police was called to intervene after the first wife, Joan Besimire ordered for 75 cows to be removed from the farm without the consent of the second wife, Diana.
Police intercepted as the cows were being transported to Kampala on way to a city abattoir.
However, the Director of Police Operations, Grace Turyagumanawe, has ordered the widows to vacate the farm for police to secure it and avert further theft of cattle.
A team of police officers have been assigned to investigate the theft of property from the farm led by the Commissioner of Police for Land Protection Unit, Fred Enanga.
