Police Officer and Two Others Held for Aggravated Robbery in Kaberamaido
Police in Kaberamaido district are holding one of their own and two others for aggravated robbery.
The arrested officer Corporal Charles Onegwa reportedly connived with a crime preventer Daniel Oryau and the Local Council One Chairperson John Oyile to rob three million Shillings and unspecified rolls of clothes among other items from one Pius Obua, a local trader at Aparkiro village.
Obua said he was attacked by an unknown group of people in police uniform while traveling from his home. He identified two suspects who later pinned Onegwa as their leader.
According to East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson Michael Odongo Police mounted a search in which some of the items were recovered from Onegwa’s house.
- But Onegwa has denied the allegation saying that he also sells clothes similar to those allegedly stolen from the businessman. The trio is being held at Kaberamaido CPS.
