Patients are given useless drugs – doctors
Patients are spending more on drugs they do not need because health practitioners prescribe them to profiteer from them.
Dr Joel Okullo, the chairman of the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council disclosed this yesterday at the launch of the Voluntary Quality Improvement System (VQIS) at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala.
He said it was common to see patients with lots of drugs but many times these were unnecessary drugs.
He argued that at other times patients were kept in health institutions for no reason only for the owners to make money.
