Parish priest, Manager accused of stealing 600 million SACCO money
Over 5000 members of Rubanda KiiziSavings and Credit Cooperative Society (Sacco) in Rubanda District are accusing the Parish Priest of Kakore Parish in Kabale Diocese Rev. Fr. Hebert Agaba and Paul Muhimbura, the General Manager of the SACCO of embezzling 600 million shillings from the group.
They claim that their savings started declining in 2015 but they didn’t panic because of the trust they had for Fr. Agaba, who told them it had been given out as loans.
Hajji Badru Sebyala, RubandaResident District Commissioner says his office is aware of the matter and has already directed police to carry out investigations.
Fr. Agaba however, distanced himself from the accusations, though he admits to have signed for only 400 Mllion shillings and gave it to Muhimbura to deposit it in Centenary Bank.
