New report reveals 40% of the teachers Arrive Late in Class
A report by the Uganda Teachers and School Effectiveness Project-UTSEP has revealed that forty percent of the teachers across the country arrive late in class. The report also indicates that the teacher’s time on tasks stands at 30 percent irrespective of the infrastructure in most government schools around the country.
The report also shows that government spends Shillings 16 billion paying 20 percent absentee teachers.
Speaking shortly after releasing the report at the Civil Service College in Jinja district, Ambrose Luyoka, the coordinator of the project says government loses Shillings 16 billion on teachers who are present in schools but are not performing their classroom duties effectively.
