Museveni in Japan for African devt summit
. President Yoweri Museveni is in the Japanese City of Yokohama to attend the fifth Tokyo International Conference on African development.The meeting that is dedicated to the African development has been co-organized by the Government of Japan, the United Nations, the World Bank, the United Nations Development Programme and the African Union.
The Conference that that is opening this morning of June 1 up to 3, 2013, is expected to lay emphasis on accelerating growth while focusing on poverty and vulnerability reduction as a way of building resilient societies in Africa.Apart from dealing with economic growth of Africa, the conference will also delve into achieving the MDGs, consolidation of peace and good governance and climate change challenges.
The 3-day conference, the fifth of its kind, has become the major framework in which the Asian countries work with their African counterparts to find ways of developing Africa.
