Museveni Gives Bamugemereire Land Commission Another Six Months
President Museveni has given the Bamugemereire Land Commission another six months, after their time expired on November 9. Appointed on December 8, 2016, and sworn in on february 19, the seven member commission’s mandate is to inquiry into the effectiveness of law, policies and processes of land acquisition, land administration, Management and land registration in Uganda.
The commission has over the past months conducted public hearings in Kampala, and areas outside the capital such as Mbarara, Wakiso, Nakaseke, Mubende, Jinja, Luweero, Mukono, Gulu among others.
The chairperson of the commission, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire says the extension is a welcome development adding that it is an endorsement of the work of her commission.
