Museveni accuses URA officials of aiding tax evasion
President Yoweri Museveni has accused some officials in Uganda Revenue Authority of aiding tax evasion and avoidance in the country leading to government loss of revenue.
Museveni says this is done through a tax evasion syndicate with commercial building owners regarding property tax and ground rent during the assessment and valuation process of buildings.
He was speaking during the closing of the 1st Science model workshop organized by the African Tax Administration Forum at Commonwealth resort Munyonyo.
For his part, the Acting Commissioner General for Uganda Revenue Authority, Patrick Mukiibi says the workshop and forum is aimed at building efficient and effective tax administrations in Africa to enhance economic development and improve the living standards of the people of Africa without relying on donor aid.
