MPs raise signatures to recall parliament to debate issues of brutal arrests
A section of legislators have kick-started a process of raising signatures to recall parliament for a special sitting to debate and come up with resolutions on how to handle issues of brutal arrests.
The MPs including Elija Okupa of Kasiro County, Sam Oyet of Nwoya and David Abala of Ngora county have spearheaded this move.
This follows a video where security operatives dressed in civilian clothes were cited brutalizing one Yusuf Kawooya as he was being arrested in Kampala last week.
In a press conference at parliament, Oyet noted that many people out there are treated in a similar manner but because they lack access to the media, their cases go unknown.
He adds government ought to apologize to the citizens of this country for the acts by its officials, saying that what they did is in total regard to human rights. They further demand that Kawooya is arraigned in courts of law if he has any case to answer.
