MPs laugh off Museveni’s new guidelines on handling suspects
A section of legislators have laughed off at the recently released guidelines by President Museveni on the treatment of suspects during arrest arguing the guidelines fall short of addressing what the torture suspects have undergone at the hands of security operatives.
The President’s directives were contained in a letter he authored on October 28th, 2018 detailing the guidelines to be followed by all security agencies in dealing with riot incidents, political events as well as arrest of suspects.
FDC’s Ibrahim Ssemujju Ngada who doubles as the opposition chief whip says there is no justification for shooting a person as being arrested like the president directed.
He says president museveni only issued this statement because of the prevailing pressure the public is raising against the acts of torture by the security organs.
