MPs Express Mixed Feelings on President’s State of Security Address
Presidents Museveni’s address to Parliament on the state of security in the country has received mixed reactions from both opposition and National Resistance Movement Members of Parliament.
During the address, the President proposed 10 measures aimed at curbing insecurity in the country. They include; use of Canine Dogs, fingerprinting all guns, electronic number plate installation on all vehicles and motorbikes, banning hoods and jackets, registering helmets, installation of cameras on town roads, streets and setting up the modern forensic laboratory.
Bernard Atiku, the Ayivu county MP says the proposals by the president are practical however there is need to revive the Police Special Branch.
Tom Butime, the Minister for Local Government supports the proposal of fingerprinting the guns.
