MPS on the parliamentary forum against malaria have asked government to increase the budget in the fight and elimination of malaria in the country.
The chairperson of the forum who is also the jinja west mp Moses Balyeku says that currently government only provides 5 percent of the money that is used to fight malaria and the rest comes from donors and says if the country is to win the fight against malaria there is need to increase funding.
Balyeku also says that they want to start up a malaria fund that will be used in constituencies to facilitate the fight and elimination of malaria.
The president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected tomorrow to launch the fight against malaria campaign under the theme: ‘A free malaria constituency is my responsibility’.
The serere county mp, Okabe Patrick and the Mukono south mp Muyanja Senyonga have shown the need to improve sensitization on the disease so that people can begin using mosquito nets the right way and also destroy breeding centers for mosquitoes.
