MPs ask president Museveni to strenthen IGG other than creating another monitoring unit
Members of parliament have urged President Museveni to streamline and strengthen the inspectorate of government instead of setting up another monitoring unit.
Yesterday the president while addressing the nation created a
monitoring unit compromised of three people to assist in fighting
corruption saying the masses no longer trusted the IGG.
Mitooma woman MP who is also the chairperson of the human rights
commitee of parliament says the creation of a new unit is like
duplication of the work of IGG and has instead advised the president
to assist and support the inspectorate in araes they are not
performing well so that they can fulfil their mandate.
Where as Busia municipality MP Geofrey Macho says this unit set up by
the president will not work and is only aimed at wasting tax payers
