Ministry of education respects Makerere’s decision to dismiss some staff
The Ministry of education and sports says it is yet to receive a petition seeking its intervention into the recent dismissal of several Makerere university academic staff.
The University Appointments Board sacked over 40 staff for among others absenteeism, assault, and insubordination.
The group has however threatened to go to court over the dismissal.
Permanent Secretary ministry of Education Alex Kakooza notes that the decision by Makerere University to dismiss its staff is part of their mandate but adds that the ministry can only intervene when they receive a petition over the matter.
