Ministry of education pushes for increase of capitation grants for Disabled children
The Ministry of Education is working towards increasing the capitation grants for children with disability in a bid to help them access education.
Currently, the government contributes 10,000 shillings for each primary school going child as capitation grant regardless of their physical abilities and needs.
The permanent secretary in the ministry of education Dr.Rose Nassali Lukwago says the ministry is lobbying for such children because they need more attention.
Dr.Lukwago also suggests that government should adopt a policy where every teacher is trained in special needs education in order to enable all children with disabilities to access education.
