Measles out-break in Ibanda
The Ibanda District health officer, has confirmed a measles out-break in the district.
Addressing journalists in Ibanda last Thursday, Dr Julius Bamwine said “many cases” have been reported in Ishongorero, Nyabuhikye, Kashangura, Bisheeshe and Nsasi sub-counties. He said the disease is also in Ibanda Town Council in Bufunda, Kyaruhanga, Kigarama, Rugazi and Kagongo wards.
Dr Bamwine warned parents against shunning treatment and advice by health officials.
Measles is an infectious viral disease that causes fever and a red rash on the skin, typically occurring in childhood. It is spread through contact with infected mucus and saliva.
