Mbarara magistrate court pushes Besigye’s violence Case to 2019
Mbarara Grade One Magistrate Sanyu Mukasa has adjourned to February next year, a case in which FDC’s Col Dr Kizza Besigye and other opposition leaders are accused of unlawful assembly, inciting violence and damaging a police vehicle.
Other suspects in the case include among others FDC President Patrick Amuriat, Ingrid Turinawe, Mubarak Munyagwa and Besigye’s driver Fred Kato.
According to prosecution, Besigye and his colleagues damaged police vehicles and assaulted 4 police officers on duty on 14 November, 2017 at Mahembe Gente as they were proceeding for a rally in Mbarara.
Magistrate Mukasa nonetheless adjourned the matter to 22 February, 2019.
