Mario Balotelli has been offered the chance to return to Italy – by by third tier side Lupa Castelli
The third tier side, who were only formed two years ago and play in Lega Pro, are keen to take the 24-year-old on loan in a bid to help him get his career back on track.
Balotelli struggled for playing time under Brendan Rodgers last term, scoring just one Premier League goal in 16 appearances after joining from AC Milan in a £16million deal.
Rodgers has admitted that the former Manchester City striker may not have a future at Anfield after deciding not to take him on the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia.
With Balotelli’s problems on Merseyside showing no sign of stopping, Lupa Castelli president Marco Amelia believes the Italy international would benefit from a temporary move back home.
Lupa Castelli, who are based in Lazio, play in a 5,000 capacity stadium and have won promotion twice in two seasons, but Amelia is realistic about his club’s chances of signing Balotelli.
