Mafabi supporters break away from FDC to form another party
A group of 36 Forum for Democratic Change party members, including 19 district delegates have broken away from the party to form another party.
The members who are protesting the replacement of Nandala Mafabi by Wafula Ogutu as the new Leader of Opposition in Parliament(LOP) said they had ‘painfully’ decided to form another political party after realizing that FDC is taking them nowhere under the current circumstances.
Mafabi’s supporters dismissed Ogutu’s appointment as ‘politics of divide and rule and playing one Easterner against another.
On Friday, FDC President ,Major General Mugisha Muntu appointed party publicist, Bukhooli Central MP Wafula Oguttu as the new LOP. In the changes announced in a charged party management meeting in Kampala, the Chief Whip Winfred Kiiza was also removed and replaced by veteran politician Cecilia Ogwal.
