Lyon ‘open talks with Arsenal over loan deal for winger Gervinho’
Wanted man: Lyon are eyeing up Gervinho
Lyon have made an approach to Arsenal to take winger Gervinho on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Ivory Coast winger Gervinho joined the Gunners from Lille in 2011, but is yet to show the sort of form that convinced Arsene Wenger to splash out around £10million on him.
Turkish duo Galatasaray and Fenerbache are both believed to be admirers of the player, but reports in France suggest Lyon are confident they can bring him back to Ligue 1.
The club’s manager Remi Garde formerly played under Arsene Wenger during his early days in the Gunners hot seat, and it is thought he has contacted his former boss to try to do business.
Lyon are unable to offer Arsenal a substantial fee up front, and would instead like to take Gervinho on loan until next season, and then sit down and discuss a transfer.
It is not clear whether Wenger would consider doing business, but the 63-year-old is a keen admirer of Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons and Gervinho could be included in a deal if Arsenal firm up their interest with an offer.
Gervinho has a contracted with Arsenal until 2015.
