Lyantonde: Measles Outbreak leaves over 15 children admitted in critical condition
The widespread measles outbreak in Lyantonde district has left at least 15 children below five years admitted in very critical condition. The outbreak began two weeks ago sending parents and local authorities into panic fearing it may leave great damage without serious interventions in time.
Health officials have since declined to announce the outbreak before the blood samples return from Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI)-Entebbe.
Dr. Okoth Obo, the Lyantonde Hospital Medical Superintendent, confirmed receiving multiple cases in a fortnight adding that they have not registered any deaths resulting from measles.
