Lampard: I can go on for longer than a year
FRANK LAMPARD is planning to remain a Chelsea player beyond the end of his new one-year contract.
The England midfielder ended a long spell of uncertainty by signing fresh terms at Stamford Bridge last week.
Lampard, 34, reckons he has more than just another 12 months still left in the tank.
He said: “I want it to continue for as long as possible.
“I signed a one-year extension but I’d love to be part of the next few years at Chelsea, developing the young players that we’ve seen come in this season.
“They are only going to get better and if I can help them then I will be really happy.
“I see myself staying here again next year and hopefully it won’t be as much of a palaver as this year.
“I’d love to show in the first six months of next season that I can carry on here. It’s down to me.
“I obviously enjoy playing for Chelsea, I have a great association with the club and the fans.
“I live locally, it is my life here and that is why I didn’t want to change.”
