LABOUR DAY: Mps Fault Government on Using National Days to Glorify Individuals
Uganda today joins the rest of the world to celebrate the international labors day under the theme “promoting the spirit in public service sector” with the event being held in Ssembabule District where president Museveni is expected to officiate at the occasion.
But an early morning downpour at the venue kind of got things to a wet start and many people attending the event saw the rain as unwelcome.
A section of mps have given their opinions in accordance to the event: the mp for Kasanda North Patrick Nsamba notes that the day would be used to reflect on and how to solve the challenges that are still facing the employment sector including how to create jobs, how to stop enslaving Ugandans in the foreign Arab countries among other concerns.
Nsamba says it’s unfortunate that such days are used to praise a few individuals in the NRM regime at the expense of a number of Ugandans who struggle to pay the taxes to support the economy.
The Buyaga west mp, Barnabas Tinkasimire says it’s disheartening that this year’s labors day comes when government it opting to import Cuba doctors despite the growing number of the unemployed personnel in the health sector here in the country.
Tinkasimire and Nsamba say they are ready to challenge this government proposal on the floor of parliament urging that government should consider the local health personnel a priority by improving their enumerations and provide them with all the necessities needed for provision on quality health service.
Meanwhile, Rose Mutonyi, the Mitooma district woman mp warned the youths especially those going for labor in Arab countries to always be conscious with the companies transporting them so that they don’t fall suit sex slavery and exploitation.
Mutonyi say that those who need to move out to work should always get the right companies from the ministry of gender, because this companies can be followed by Government.
