KIU TO RESTORE A THREE YEAR SUSPENDED GUILD COUNCIL
Kampala international university western campus will restore students’ Guild council elections next month after three years of suspension. This was revealed by the new deputy vice chancellor in charge of the campus Prof. Emmanuel Karooro today Friday 14, 2014.
While addressing new students for the January intake at the campus in Ishaka, he noted that the guild council elections had been suspended together with that of the main campus because of students bad behaviors.
He noted that since the guild council for the main campus in Kansanga-Kampala was re-instated last year then western campus will follow since according to him students’ behaviors had improved.
Prof. Karooro said that they would follow the procedures used by the main campus but ruled out multi-party politics in the guild elections.
On the other hand he warned new students against HIV/Aids scourge. He told them to be suspicious of one other because they don’t know their HIV status. “Please don’t die! The world needs you very much for various important activities” Karooro begged
He said the he was going to continue inviting HIV/AIDS experts to the university to address students on the dangers of the disease. He noted that this will contribute negatively to the spread of the disease amongst students of KIU western campus.
The admitted students come from countries like Kenya, Tanzania, Somalia, South Sudan, Rwanda as well as Uganda among others. Majority of these students take medical courses.
